San Marino League Juried Art Show, ART MATTERS 2018
Traditional and contemporary paintings and photographs including landscapes, figurative, abstract and still life works will be on view and offered for sale on Saturday and Sunday May 5th and 6th from 11:00 to 4:00 in the Botanical Center at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Eleven well known artists - Peter Adams, Sunny Apinchapong-Yang, Karl Dempwolf, Bonita Helmer, Jean Osher, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Gayle Garner Roski, Kevin Short, Mian Situ, Jason Situ and Ralph Waterhouse have been chosen as Keystone Artist and will have their paintings for sale.
Over 70 additional pieces have been selected from a juried fine arts competition by a panel of experts for inclusion in the show. These jurors are Chad Alligood, Virginia Steele Scott Chief Curator of American Art; Clare Kunny, Director, Art Muse LA; Scot M. Levitt, Director, Fine Arts, Bonham’s, and Stephen Nowlin, Vice President, Art Center College of Design. Jewelry, ceramics, glass art and additional paintings will also be available for purchase.
Included in the sale will be a painting by Millard Sheets (1907-1989). Millard was one of the foremost watercolorists of his time who made important advances with his inventive watercolors that rivaled oils in their luminosity.
Proceeds from the sale, organized by the San Marino League, will support both the endowment fund for the Japanese Gardens at the Huntington Library, Art Collection and Botanical Gardens and for fine arts scholarships for students at the Art Center College of Design.
The San Marino League was founded in 1954 and is a nonprofit philanthropic organization committed to providing art experience and education of children and adults. Members act as docents for school children’s tours the The Huntington’s Japanese Garden and volunteer at the Art Center College of Design.
Entrance to Art Matters 2018 is included with general admissions to the Huntington.
A Juried Fine Art Exhibit and Sale May 4, 5, & 6, 2018
The San Marino League will hold its fifth juried Art Exhibit and Sale on the magnificent grounds of the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. This 207-acre former estate of Henry and Arabella Huntington is visited by more than 600,000 visitors each year.
Call for Entries
Entries will be accepted for traditional and contemporary paintings of any medium, as well as photography.

Note: Accepted artists will be offered the opportunity to paint in the gardens of The Huntington on April 16, 17, & 18
